Why won't my octopus come out?

**Thanks to Nathan Best for submitting this question**
Question:
I was wondering if you could help me out. My employer got me an octopus about a month ago. It's been fine up until about a week ago. It's stuck itself into a piece of coral and sits inside of it and pulls rocks up to cover the openings and doesn't come out, except to get more rocks. It won't eat anything either. We've done a big water change, but other than that we're not sure what's going on with it.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Answer:
Has it laid eggs? If so, is it behaving normally?

We haven't seen any eggs yet (but that could be because it never comes out!)

If she laid eggs, she would be sitting on top of them. Usually this is back under a rock in a hard to see area.

I also have a blue damsel fish in the tank, should I take it out?

If you want to rear the babies, yes. Otherwise the damsel is safer than it has ever been, as octomom will not eat again.
