Will a tank mate help octopuses come out more often?

**Thanks to CJ Oster for submitting this question**
Question:
James,

Will a tank mate help octopuses come out more often?
Answer:
Nope. They are not social animals at all. Those listed above are simply more likely to tolerate and not eat each other than most species. Yes, it is true, many species will EAT their tank mates. Let me turn the table around and ask you a question: If I put you in a small maze with a known cannibal, would you come out of your hiding place more or less?
