Which octopus in your opinion makes the best pet? Something active that will come out through the day is all that I am really looking for, but I would prefer that it stay small and not need a chiller. |
| Answer: |
| Well, that would be the day octopus, Octopus cyanea, from Hawaii. The drawback is that these can be fairly BIG. Many other species will adapt to a day cycle if they are given lairs. The bimacs and briareus are also good choices IMHO. Octopus joubini is the worst as far as being visible goes, although they are at the top of the hardiness list.
All this assume that you can actually find a supplier of the mentioned species. This can be a challenge! Dr. James Wood |
