FAQ

A contribution of The Cephalopod Page

Can I use a picture of * for * ?

Question:
There are many awesome pictures on The Cephalopod Page and I frequently get requests to use them for various projects (CD ROM's, commercial projects, museum displays, screen savers, web pages etc.). Although I often seem to get the credit for taking these great photographs, it is undeserved as the majority of the shots were taken by others. Scientists, divers, professional photographers and aquarists from around the world have kindly donated the images that you see on the page. I can not, in good faith, give permission to others to use photographs that I did not take. Every shot is credited to the photographer that took it. If you ask, you will find that most photographers are willing to let others use their photographs for non-profit projects providing that they receive credit. Keep in mind that all images that appear on my page are the property of the photographers that took them - i.e. you need written permission before you use the images.
Answer:
If you are interested in using one of my photographs please write me and tell me which image(s) you wish to use and for what purpose. I almost always freely give permission for educational and not-for-profit projects as long as I am given credit for taking the image. I usually do not allow my images to be used on other web sites as I wish to keep The Cephalopod Page unique. Please inquire about prices for commercial projects.
