Dear Mr. Wood, I was looking up information to answer a question my kids (aged 5 and 6) asked me. They want to know what you call a group of squid - like a "pride" of lions or a "pod" of dolphins - and I did not have a clue. I have not been able to find out in several attempts at searching on the you provide your e-mail address on your page, I thought perhaps to take a chance and ask you. I looked in your FAQ section, but did not see the info (although there was an interesting discussion on the plural of "octopuses"). I do not write a lot of e-mails to people I do not know, and I am unsure as to the etiquette and protocols. I assume it is like regular letter writing. If you do not mind and if it is not an infringement of your time, I would be very grateful for your help in answering this question for my kids. Respectfully yours, Seth Troner |

| Dear Seth, You can refer to a group of squid as a "school of squid". Yes, e-mail letters are just like regular letters but are often, for better or worse, very informal. Dr. James Wood |
