Glenda Adams, MD, MPH
Senior Medical Director
Dr. Glenda Adams was valedictorian of Deer Park High School in 1968 and winner of the American Legion School award. She attended San Jacinto Junior College and the University of Houston. She was a three-year graduate from UTMB's School of Medicine with "Highest Honors" in May 1976. She received her Masters in Public Health degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 1993. She presented her Masters thesis, Tuberculosis Among Texas State Prisoners, 1988 - 1991 at the annual conference of the Infectious Disease Society of America in New Orleans, Louisiana in October 1993. During her academic career, Dr. Adams was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Iota Sigma Pi, and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies and the recipient of Robert Wood Johnson scholarships and the Isabella Brackenridge and Johanna Blummel awards for academic excellence.
Dr. Adams was in private practice in Pasadena, Texas and Dillard, Georgia for ten years prior to entering correctional medicine. She is a certified correctional health care professional and has extensive experience in direct patient care at various correctional facilities. She is a UTMB faculty member in the Department of Preventive Medicine. Dr. Adams has served in various UTMB Correctional Managed Care physician leadership positions and is currently the Senior Medical Director for Inpatient Services. She also serves on multiple Correctional Managed Care standing and ad hoc committees.
