Flu Season Ending / Masking Not Required Effective April 8

Since October 2012, healthcare workers who did not receive the influenza vaccine for 2012-13 have been required to wear surgical masks when providing care for patients. The 2012-13 influenza season in Texas is now coming to an end, and there has been only one case of influenza diagnosed at UTMB during the last two weeks. Therefore, effective April 8, 2013, healthcare workers who did not take the 2012-13 influenza vaccine will no longer be required to wear surgical masks when providing patient care.
