Blood Donations Needed

Blood is very precious. Please come by UTMB Blood Center, JSA 5.212 because it’s the end of summer and we really need your help.  Blood donations are very low at this time of year due to the vacation season.

Please remember to give your second blood donation this summer to receive a beautiful “Give 2 Live” beach towel. Our Summer Blood Drive Campaign, “Give 2 Live” will close on September 6.   If you have not already donated blood this summer, we still have a “Give 2 Live” t-shirt for you! If you would like to place a visual reminder in your department, please print the attached flyer.

Your blood donation will provide fresh blood products for UTMB or Shriners Burn patients who really need your help. Blood donors save lives! Our patients deserve the best service we can provide to them, and it takes all of us to adequately support the UTMB Blood Center with the blood and blood components that our patients need on a daily basis.

Special request: If you are a male, or female who has never been pregnant with an AB positive or negative blood type, we would like to talk with you about making an automated plasma donation.  An automated donation is a safe and simple process that enables us to collect a specific blood component, in this case plasma. Your plasma will go to a patient who really needs your help.  If you would consider making this very important type of blood donation, please contact Laurie Hartrick @ 409.772.6551 or llhartri@utmb.edu.

Thanks in advance for your continued support of our UTMB Blood Center!
