The Great American Smokeout – Nov. 21

This year, the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21. The event, marking its 38th anniversary, promotes efforts to help smokers kick the habit. It is an opportunity to join the thousands of people across Texas and the United States who will quit tobacco use for 24-hours.

Please join UTMB Health’s Employee Health Promotion team and the Commit to Quit program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in John Sealy Hospital, to celebrate the Great American Smokeout and support those individuals taking a step to stamp out their cigarettes. Team members will be available in the hospital’s main lobby and in the hallway entrance of the Café on the Court to provide self-help material about quitting smoking, tobacco awareness information, and carbon monoxide testing.
For more information about this event or the Commit to Quit program, please contact Patrice Houston at (409) 747-5324 or visit the Employee Health Promotion web page.
