Wisdom and kindness emerge from book

Schreiber: David Watts, a recent visitor to Galveston and speaker at University of Texas Medical Branch, is a physician and regular commentator on National Public Radio. Watts is a poet and storyteller, and his presence and verbal presentations were impressive. He has gathered into this volume vignettes about his patients, their strengths and foibles and the practical realities at the center of the relationship between physician and patient. He has disguised the patients so they cannot be identified, and wherever possible he has obtained their permission to tell their stories.
