Maritime art gallery opens today

Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 01/28/06http://galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=9f62d670dbdf4a21 Today, the new Maritime Print Gallery of the Texas Seaport Museum opens inside the Pier 21 Theatre on Harborside Drive, featuring 12 framed prints of oil paintings by some of the world’s most famous maritime artists. Other prints in the collection range from $150 to $850 for a copy of “Elissa Under Tow” by British artist Anthony Blackman, who arrived in Galveston this week. Blackman will be among those honored Feb. 4 at a gala sponsored by the Galveston Historical Foundation, which operates the Seaport Museum. Blackman’s works are part of the permanent collections of Texas A&M University, the University of Texas Medical Branch and Rosenberg Library.
