Nursing homes upset about EMS changes

But that’s what the 65-year-old Texas City nursing home resident said happened recently when he had to go to UTMB for a doctor’s visit. “I waited one hour for someone to pick me up to go to (UTMB) and then it was nearly four hours before someone came to bring me back,” he said. “No one knows what they are supposed to be doing with this whole thing. “It’s all a money-grabbing mess.” Brown had tried to arrange for transportation via the newly created regional EMS program. Still in its infancy, the program did little to instill confidence in Brown, who is undergoing cancer treatments.
