, Oct. 25, 2006 Texas Tech Health Sciences Center's new medical dean appointed key leadership positions Tuesday, promoting two Tech faculty and recruiting a chairman from a Galveston medical school. Dean Steven Berk announced appointments for the vice dean for research, an associate dean for Faculty Affairs and Development and a new chairman of the Department of Physiology. Douglas Stocco was named vice dean for research. Thomas Tenner Jr., an associate professor in the department of pharmacology, was named associate dean for faculty affairs and development. Berk also named Luis Reuss, professor and chairman of the department of physiology and biophysics at the University of Texas Medical Branch, to chair Tech's department of physiology. Reuss is a member of several national committees and performs research funded by the National Institutes of Health. He will join Tech in April 2007, according to a statement from the Health Sciences Center.
