The Baytown Sun, Jan. 9, 2007 A longtime Baytown practitioner, who delivered more than 10,000 babies in his career, died Saturday after a lengthy battle with cancer. Dr. John E. Nesselrode, 80, had a 37-year career in the area, but perhaps he was best known for his role as director of the Family Practice Residency Program at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. After graduating from Baylor College of Medicine, he opened his medical practice in Baytown in 1953 and continued to practice in the area for 37 years. His last eight years of work were spent as a professor for UTMB, teaching family practice to students in the Residency Program. The program began with around six students and has expanded to hold 20 plus students.
