The plight of those who lack health insurance should concern everyone with a sense of humanity. When people don’t have health insurance and get sick, they usually receive treatment anyway. The cost of that care just doesn’t magically disappear. It’s transferred to those who do have insurance, which drives up the cost of coverage. So what can be done to improve this picture? Third of three suggestions, businesses that don’t now provide insurance should investigate the 3-Share plan. That program is expected to offer coverage with the cost divided three ways: worker, employer and government. The University of Texas Medical Branch developed this program. It will be a step in the right direction.
