Take steps to prevent unintentional injuries at home

Parents consider their home safe for their children, but evidence indicates that unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death in children 14 and younger, and half of these injuries occur at home, wrote UTMB Drs. Sally Robinson and Keith Bly in their Keeping Kids Healthy column. Parents can avoid, or at least minimize, such accidents by taking preventive steps and giving children basic safety guidelines beginning in their preschool years.
