In this week’s It’s Your Health column, UTMB’s Dr. Michael Warren shared the importance of blood donation, as written by his colleague Heather Pritchard. “Modern medicine has provided us with amazing equipment. Machines that will act as hearts, lungs and kidneys as patients wait for a transplant, but nothing can substitute human blood. There is no replacement for it, and the only way to get it is from another human being. … Donating is a simple process that takes about 30 minutes.”
