It’s Good Children’s Hospital Is Staying Put
Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 07/24/06 Letter to the Editor: Officials with the University of Texas Medical Branch said they are committed to keeping Children’s Hospital open and even expanding some of its services. The statement came in response to questions about the facility’s future. In the past year, the hospital has curtailed the hours of its emergency room. I was pleased to hear that University of Texas Medical Branch’s Children’s Hospital plans to remain in operation (The Daily News, July 16). A family from Britain had to use the pediatric emergency room and couldn’t stop singing its praises. Having grown up referring to John Sealy as “the state hospital,” I had grave concerns about using the facility — until I had a child of my own. We have had to use the facilities for emergency and routine referral care, and we have been so impressed. The care is top-notch, the staff professional, courteous and caring — from front desk to nurses to X-ray techs to physicians. I am now proud to refer to UTMB as my area medical center.
