Higher drug prices

Houston Chronicle (Internet / Print) 07/24/06 Letter to the Editor: I WONDER if President Bush's veto of additional funding for embryonic stem cell research at facilities such as the University of Texas Medical Branch and Harvard University will result in drug companies getting these research grants. The pharmaceutical industry is already deep in the pockets of the Bush administration, and the possibility that new research may bring forth incredible advances in treating many diseases would certainly help their bottom lines. On top of already escalating prices for the most commonly prescribed drugs for older adults, think what they could charge for specialty medicines.
