Prenatal stress in Hispanics studied

Houston Chronicle (Internet / Print) 02/02/06 A University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston scientist is studying prenatal stress in minority populations, the first research being done under the school's new $500,000 bio-behavioral lab. Funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health, nurse Roberta Ruiz has enrolled more than 500 Hispanic women from San Antonio and Austin to study the effect of the mind on hormones in the immune system, according to a UTMB news release.
