Stobo, wife to kick off 'Love Letters'

Gurney’s “Love Letters.” The imaginative theater piece relies on letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together and went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. Each performance features a different couple. Today’s presentation is in charge of Dr. John Stobo, president of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and wife Mary Ann. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down. “It’s a bittersweet love story,” said Benjamin Luss, the theater’s managing director.
