New UTMB nursing program popular

Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 02/12/06 http://galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=0e7e6d6631430376 The University of Texas Medical Branch’s new master’s degree program in Nursing Leadership in Complex Healthcare Organizations has gotten off to a fast start, university officials say. The M.S.N. program, launched in the fall by the School of Nursing, has drawn an enthusiastic response, said Jean Sorrells-Jones, program director. “We were flooded with applications shortly after we announced the program,” she said. Sorrells-Jones said the new program responds to the leadership needs of health care organizations and reflects trends in other industries. “Many health care organizations now require their middle-managers to be master’s-prepared, with an M.S.N., M.H.A. or M.B.A.,” she said.
