Lucy Li seems almost tickled by the amount of attention she is drawing as the youngest competitor to every qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open, teeing off at Pinehurst Two in North Carolina this morning. “I think I like crowds. I think I play better the more people come watch me,” Li said at one the many press interviews she has been featured at. The word “fun” comes up repeatedly. “I think if she maintains that outlook, and whoever is supervising or coaching her, allows her to maintain that outlook, as opposed to just looking at outcomes, or the results, or the score,” said UTMB’s Jeff Temple. “Not measuring her on that [score] but just making sure that she is having fun, and learning.”
