Putting Professionalism to Work
Dear
member of the UTMB family:
This year celebrates the 10th anniversary of the UTMB
Professionalism Initiative. The Professionalism Charter-a
significant accomplishment of the program-was created to define the
elements of professionalism for all UTMB faculty, staff and
students. It calls upon each of us to act with integrity,
compassion and respect in our interactions with one another.
The affirmations presented by the charter serve as the cornerstone
of UTMB's reputation as a leading academic health sciences center
and an institution deserving of the public's trust. The
interprofessional and collaborative educational experiences offered
through the new synergy initiative are a testament to that future,
as promising UTMB students aspire to promote a vision of improved
quality health care. Likewise, programs focused on improving
quality and service in the UTMB Health System and other areas
continue to bring the charter to life throughout the university
community.
The responsibilities outlined in this charter influence and hold
unique relevance to each of us. Please take a moment to read
through and reflect upon these standards, which help us define our
expectations for ourselves and for each other. Thank you for your
